🔎 About the Institute

The Institute of Environmental Management and Quality Control (IEMQC) brings together three undergraduate programmes that address some of the most pressing challenges of our time: environmental degradation, climate change, occupational health risks, and the growing threat of natural and man-made disasters.

At IEMQC, we train students to understand environmental systems, assess risks, manage hazards, and implement practical solutions that protect people and the natural world. Our teaching draws on real-world case studies, field investigations, laboratory work, and simulation exercises — giving students the confidence to respond effectively in professional settings.

Our graduates go on to make a real difference — working in government ministries, international organisations, research institutions, and the private sector, both in Sierra Leone and across the globe.

🎯 What We Focus On

Our teaching and research are built around the issues that matter most — combining practical skills with strong academic foundations.

🌿

Environmental Science and Management

Understanding how environmental systems work and how human activities affect them — from pollution to ecosystem change.

🏭

Occupational Health and Safety

Identifying and controlling workplace hazards to protect the health and wellbeing of workers across all sectors.

⛈️

Disaster Risk and Climate Adaptation

Building the skills to assess risk, plan for emergencies, and help communities adapt to the growing impacts of climate change.

🔬

Environmental Monitoring

Using laboratory techniques, GIS, and field tools to collect, analyse, and communicate environmental data.

📋

Quality Assurance and Regulation

Understanding environmental laws, standards, and quality control frameworks that industries and governments rely on.

💧

Water, Air and Waste Management

Addressing critical issues in water quality, air pollution, and solid waste — essential for public health and sustainable development.

🏫 Our Programmes

We offer undergraduate programmes that are academically rigorous yet deeply practical. Each programme is structured over four years (eight semesters) and prepares you for a wide range of careers.
