Reporting to - The University Librarian
Place of work: Njala University, Njala/Bo Campus
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To cooperate with and assist the University Librarian in the management of the University Library System and Resources for acquiring, Organizing, Managing and distributing library resources, and ensuring that library provision meets the needs of all its users
- Selecting, developing, cataloging and classifying library resources
- Answering users’ enquiries
- Using library systems and specialist computer applications
- Management of staff under span of control
- Liaising with departmental Academic staff, external organizations and suppliers under the supervision of the University Librarian
- Managing budget and resources
- Supporting independent research and learning
- Ensuring that library services meet the needs of particular groups of users e.g. Physically challenge, postgraduate students, staff
QUALIFICATION:
Master’s degree in Library Studies; must have served as Senior Librarian or in an equivalent position for at least five years in a University
Key Competencies:
- Ability to manage subordinates well
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to relate to public well
