Institute of Geography and Development Studies (IGDS)

The IGDs in the School of Environmental Sciences was upgraded in 2005 from the Department of Geography and Rural Development to the current IGDS. Four academic units were established: Development, Population and Statistics, Geography; Land Management; and Urban Planning Units.

The institute currently runs the following programmes:

The institute is open to internal and external collaboration in research and community services. It is currently running the Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre, which is a joint venture with the Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU), University College London.
