Dr. Abdul Rahman Sesay was born on 2nd October 1965 in Yonibana town, Yoni Chiefdom, Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone. Started primary education at the Seventh Day Adventist Primary School, Moyamba and then at the Sierra Leone Moslem Brotherhood Primary school in Yonibana. Attended the Services Secondary School, Juba Barracks, Freetown from form 1 to 5 and attended the sixth form at the Sierra Leone Grammar School from 1984 to 1986.
Studied BSc Education degree in Biological Sciences at Njala University College from 1987 to 1991. After graduation, employed as a teacher at the Prince of Wales, School, Kingtom, in Freetown. Obtained a Master’s degree in Agriculture specializing in Animal Reproductive Physiology at Guangxi Agricultural University, China in 1996. Joined Njala University in 1996 as Lecturer II attached to the Animal Science Department. In 2004, graduated with a PhD degree in Animal Breeding and Reproduction from South China Agricultural University. Promoted to Lecturer I on his return in 2004 and in 2010 promoted to the position of Senior Lecturer.
Dr. Sesay is the current Dean of the School of Agriculture and head of the Animal Science Department, Njala University. He is also the Chairman of the Njala Campus Moslem Jamaat. He is married and has two daughters.
Dr. Sesay is a seasoned lecturer spanning a period of twenty years. Research interests include but not limited to improvement in livestock productivity and conservation of animal genetic resources.
