Peter Dennis MUSA

Peter Dennis MUSA is the junior internal expert of BeBi project with the responsibility to look into the agronomic aspect of the pot and field experiments conducted at Njala University. He hold a Ph.D in Agricultural Entomology and Pest Management and he was a postdoctoral research fellow in crop Science in the Key Provincial laboratory of Plant molecular Breeding Research Center, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, PR China. July, 2008- date : Head of Department, Horticulture , Njala University. He is currently a member of the Board of Postgraduate studies (Njala University) the Chairman of the Center of Biodiversity Research (Njala University) and the associate principal research officer for the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI). His research interest involves integrated pest management of vegetable and tree crops with emphasis on the use of natural enemies- predators, parasitoids and pathogens, the assessment of pest densities and determination of Economic Threshold (ET) and Economic Injury Level (EIL) on different vegetable crops, the assessment of the potential of ecosystem functions for poverty alleviation, integrated nutrient management (INM) and its influence on the growth of horticultural crops, management of urban waste for best agricultural practices, and the characterization of indigenous crop species for enhancing food security
